First, welcome to this lovely game.
Try to find an alliance as soon as possible, those helps a lot beginners as resources and when your protection mode ends, you get your alliances protection. Also some of them have a very good beginners guides or even kind of mentor programme where more experienced players can give their advices.

Gold coins costs real money. Or you can get some free ones by watching advertisements.
