Having the unused castles turn into free castles is a horrible idea. It means that by building a fortress you open your own clusters making them less secure. Why not either remove the unused castles from the map off turn them into the walls of the fortress?

I don't see the point in losing 4 castles. They should not revert to free castles in any case.

I think it is a great idea and can't wait for it to come out on USA5 it will make wars much more interesting.

U should lower the price of silver when u let us build the fortress as it will cost so much should lower it to 20 RSS per silver

My suggestions:
Fortress weakened, but still have decent extra upgrades/storage/population;
Binding is permanent, castles must be very very close, but still there after fortress completion;
You can choose upgrade fortress to offensive or defensive type, so binding castle troops can have attack or defend bonus.
Do not turn binding castles into free castles, or it will just cause chaos.

It's about improving gold sales ultimately but it will change the strategic aspect of the game. My biggest issue is that the geographic location of your castles is a factor.
I strategically DONT have more than 4 castles in a cluster because it makes my more vulnerable to mass attacks.
I don't think castle location. Should have a role in the fortress feature.

If this is changed I think overall the idea sounds fun.

Alternative idea:
Binding castles get attack bonus from fortress;
Fortress gets defence bonus from each binding castle;
But if you lose one binding castle, fortress lose one portion of defence bonus;
If you lose fortress, binding castles don't get attack bonus at all.

Are the 4 castles that return to FC status still held by the player, or are they then lost? If lost, that is insane.
